Met uitzondering van Chaplin zag ik nog geen enkele van jouw Jaren '10-keuzes. Ga ik eens achteraan. Verder, niet heel verrassend, een paar dubbele. En er staan ook een paar titels in die het bij met nét niet haalden (Orphee, Humanity and... o.a.).

Van dat jaren 10 rijtje is vooral Regeneration niet te missen. Hele invloedrijke film die enorm nagalmt in de grote jaren 70 gangsterfilms. Walsh is sowieso een held. Hij heeft zelfs drie keer deze lijst gehaald.

Is trouwens het jaartal van Dying Swan binnen een dag veranderd op MM, of baseer jij het jaartal op voltooiing van de productie? Want als ik die film in 1916 zou zetten zou hij het hoogste uitkomen, ver boven Pikovaya Dama zelfs.

Ik hou altijd het productiejaar aan. Dus er zal 1916 op de titelkaart hebben gestaan. Orphée is voor mij 1949 en Asthenic Syndrome 1989.

Meerderheid is Amerikaans, met name dankzij jaren '40/50. Maar liefst vijf films van Nicholas Ray. En vier keer John Cassavetes in de jaren '70, ten koste van enkele grote favorieten van Duitse hand. Sowieso het drukste decennium in mijn boekje, waar elk jaar gemiddeld ruim vier keer 5-sterren staan. Ook in jaren '80/90 enkele jaren waar het moeilijk kiezen was. Tenslotte, een duidelijke daling van aantal favorieten in deze eeuw. Tijd om eens meer op zoek te gaan naar parels van de laatste 20 jaar.

Enkel 2006 blijf ik problemen mee hebben. Al is The Prestige wel goed, en misschien de op één na beste Nolan. Ook in de breedte een erg zwakke jaar. Van de jaartallen waar ik meer dan 10 films gezien heb, ook met voorsprong de zwakste en de enige die geen gemiddelde waardering van 6/10 haalt. Ik heb 35 films gezien, en enkel The Prestige haalt 4 sterren. Het zal aan films zijn zoals Paprika en I'm Cyborg but that's OK om daar verandering in te brengen. Of The Fountain, Perfume. Misschien This is England. Vroeg of laat vind ik die parel uit 2006 wel.

En of course hier en daar lat ietsje lager. In elk jaar na 2010 ligt de lat eigenlijk vrij hoog nu. Geen enkele regisseur staat er meer dan één keer in, en dat is voor de eerste keer nu.

Van de decennia ervoor gewoon te weinig gezien. Ik kan wel iets invullen natuurlijk, maar het zou te weinig representatief zijn.
