Steven Allan Spielberg, geboren 18 december 1946, is een Amerikaanse filmmaker. Hij wordt beschouwd als een van de grondleggers van het New Hollywood-tijdperk en is een van de meest populaire regisseurs en producenten uit de filmgeschiedenis. Spielberg begon in Hollywood met het regisseren van tv shows en verschillende kleine theatrale releases. Hij werd een bekend als regisseur van "Jaws" (1975), dat zowel kritisch als commercieel succesvol was en wordt beschouwd als de eerste zomerse kaskraker. Zijn latere releases waren vooral gericht op sciencefiction- / avonturenfilms zoals "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (1977), "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (1981), "ET the Extra-Terrestrial" (1982) en "Jurassic Park "(1993), dat archetypen werd van de moderne Hollywood-escapistenfilms. Spielberg ging over tot het aanpakken van serieuze problemen in zijn latere werk met "The Colour Purple" (1985), "Empire of the Sun" (1987), "Schindler's List" (1993), "Amistad" (1997) en "Saving Private Ryan" "(1998). Hij hield zich in de 21e eeuw grotendeels aan deze aanpak met "München" (2005), "Lincoln" (2012), "Bridge of Spies" (2015) en "The Post" (2017). Hij was mede-oprichter van Amblin Entertainment en DreamWorks Studios, waar hij ook als producer of uitvoerend producent heeft gediend voor verschillende succesvolle filmtrilogieën, tetralogieën en meer, waaronder de "Gremlins", "Back to the Future", "Men in Black" en de serie "Transformers". Later stapte hij over naar het produceren van verschillende games binnen de videogame branche. Spielberg is een van de meest succesvolle filmmakers van de Amerikaanse filmindustrie, met lof voor zijn regie-talent en veelzijdigheid, en hij heeft tweemaal de Academy Award voor beste regisseur gewonnen. Ik ben nooit zo positief over Steven Spielberg, maar nu ik even mijn stemoverzicht bekeek bij hem, bleek het heel erg mee te vallen. Integendeel:

Ik wist nooit dat ik zo veel van hem gezien had Wel opvallend dat ik zijn vroegere werk veel lager beoordeel dan zijn latere. De Indiana Jones-trilogie moet ik ook maar eens gaan zien.

heb ik dus ook, maar het is net of we ons ervoor moeten schamen. erg ondergewaardeerde regisseur (door de critici), die meer aan kan dan simplistische Hollywoodproducties.

Ben ik het helemaal mee eens. Spielberg is toch echt een goede regisseur, maar omdat hij ook publieksfavoriet is wordt hij vaak niet serieus genomen hier. Toch maakt er bijna niemand zo'n goede avonturenfilms als hij en ook met drama kan hij redelijk uit de voeten, al wordt hij dan soms wat sentimenteel. Hij is verantwoordelijkk voor 6 keer een 4,5* bij mij:
