Opvallend - al merk ik dat bij mezelf ook - dat de latere decennia veel sneller een film hebben met 4.5* of 5*. De beschikbaarheid van recentere films is groter natuurlijk, zodat je er meer kan zien. Wel springt dan 2013 er weer uit met 'slechts' een 4* film.

Klopt helemaal wat je zegt. Van 2013 hoop ik nog op een geweldige uitschieter en ik heb gelukkig nog wel een paar films te zien die de potentie hebben om hoger te scoren.

Vanaf de jaren '20 beginnen er gaten te vallen, voor 1950 blijft het lastig echt leuke films te vinden.

Wegens griep en niet kunnen slapen daardoor tussen de niesbuien door ook maar weer eens een lijstje gemaakt. En geconstateerd dat ik echt schandalig weinig films van voor 1940 heb gezien. Om over die van voor 1930 nog maar te zwijgen. Misschien een paar eens met prioriteit gaan zien. Ook altijd wel interessant zijn het aantal films per jaar. 2004 stijgt als enige boven de 100 uit. 1960 is een opmerkelijke uitschieter, 1988 ook al komt dat deels door Dekalog.

2 opvallende scores. De leuke slapstick The General en het veel mindere romantisch drama Sunrise. In verhouding met andere films uit die tijd voor u een hoge score. Eerder een voorkeur voor Keaton dan voor Chaplin?

Op basis van die éne Keaton film die ik gezien heb absoluut, geen idee of het ook voor de rest van z'n werk geldt. Zal binnenkort nog wel eens een Keaton proberen om wat meer uitsluitsel te krijgen, punt is wel dat ik Chaplin absoluut slecht kan verdragen.

Ik wil eind dit jaar nog eens een lijstje maken, maar ben ondertussen nog altijd op zoek naar een goeie film uit 1943 en 1945. De twee enige jaren sinds 1930 waar ik nog geen enkele film van gezien heb. Vóór 1930 ontbreken ook nog wel enkele jaren, maar vooral die uit de jaren '40 zou ik toch minstens 1 film van gezien willen hebben.

Al ben ik wel niet over alles tevreden. Sommige jaren is het nogal lastig om echt een topper te vinden terwijl andere jaren het met een overdaad (2012 => 5x 4.5*) moeten doen. Sommige films zijn ook te lang geleden (Saving Private Ryan onder andere) maar hebben indertijd blijkbaar toch een indruk nagelaten.

Aantal geziene films per jaar ben ik vergeten, was al halverwege toen ik dat besefte. Dat zal wel eens met een update gebeuren.

Slechte wissel wat mij betreft op 1952, maar wellicht past het ook wel beter bij jouw smaak...

Misschien wel, maar misschien ook niet. Ik kan Franse films uit die periode ook best goed waarderen. Ik wacht nog op die ene echte topper uit dat jaar, want het is wel mijn zwakste jaar uit de jaren '50.

Ikiru is het voor mij nog steeds, high noon zou er ook nog een kunnen zijn...

Die heb ik ook allebei op 4,0* staan. IkIru staat ook in mijn top 500, High Noon viel er net buiten. Umberto D. en Jeux Interdits behoren echter wel tot de betere 4,0*.

Mijn keuze zou Saikaku Ichidai Onna (1952) zijn.

De enige 4.5* voor mij (geen 5.0*)

Na de laatste tijd op zoveel mooie lijstjes te stuiten, liepen de kriebels toch een beetje over. Vandaar.

Begin pas vanaf 1920, om de simpele reden dat mijn filmkennis van voor 1920 beschamend weinig voorstelt. Mischien had ik zelfs die hele 20erjaren achterwege mogen laten, aangezien het enkel een opsomming lijkt van de betere slapstick uit die jaren. Niet veel waarde aan te hechten dus, maar men moet ergens van vertrekken..
