Vandaag, precies 53 jaar geleden werd in de plaats Melbourne de Australische actrice Cate Blanchett geboren. Blanchett maakte haar debuut in 1994 in de film Police Rescue, maar brak pas vijf jaar later door bij het grote publiek met haar rol in The Talented Mr. Ripley. Inmiddels heeft al twee Oscars achter haar naam staan. Hier, speciaal voor haar verjaardag, de tien best beoordeelde films van Cate Blanchett.

Volgens mij kwam Cate Blanchett's Galadriel alleen voor in An Unexpected Journey en The Battle of the Five Armies. Niet in The Desolation of Smaug, die wel in deze lijst is opgenomen. Morfydd Clark gaat het in The Rings of Power nog lastig krijgen om haar op een waardige manier op te volgen.

In mijn optiek excelleert Cate Blanchett in alles wat ze speelt. Of het nou gaat om de sarcastische Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, of de Fox News-achtige nieuwsjournalist in Don't Look Up.
