Inmiddels een kleine honderd Japanse films gezien en mijn interesse neemt nog altijd gestaag toe. M'n favoriete cinema zal het vermoedelijk nooit worden, maar hetgeen ik zag is zeer gevarieerd en behaalt in de meeste gevallen een behoorlijk niveau. De Japanners komen vaak met bijzondere invalshoeken wat betreft culturele thema's en lijken hun werk met bijzonder veel artistieke vrijheid uit te kunnen voeren, dit levert vaak boeiende films op. Mijn favorieten tot dusver:

Op de Midnight Eye site blikken de krachten achter de site terug op hun eerste tien jaar, hun werk, hun bijdragen etc. Onder andere door het maken van het 'beste van'-lijstjes. De 7 editors zelf hebben een Top 10 gemaakt van hun Beste Japanse film van de afgelopen 10 jaar. Altijd discutabel.... uiteraard.

2 titels komen maar liefst in 5 van de 7 en 1 titel in 4 van de 7 Top 10 lijstjes voor. Deze zouden dus in aanmerking komen voor de titel "Beste Japanse Film van de 21e Eeuw":
- Love Exposure van Sono Sion (5x)
- United Red Army van Wakamatsu Koji (5x)
- Still Walking van Kore'Eda Hirokazu (4x)
Heb de eerste nog liggen en nog niet gezien, maar geen gek lijstje natuurlijk.

Eindelijk aan Ghibli begonnen, heb er nu 4 achter de rug. Hopelijk komt de echte topper nog.

Net iig Hotaru no Haka gekeken, de beste tot nu toe.. 4.5 sterren.
Volgende keer zal ik wel per twee of drietal films posten .

Qua anime zijn beide Patlabor films een aanrader! Twee goed uitgedachte, politieke thrillers met een filosofisch randje. Niet voor niets regisseerde Mamoru Oshii deze twee topfilms! Wie zich Ghost in the Shell en Innocence liet smaken zal zich niet vervelen.

Dat is echt zo'n speciaal filmpje waarbij ik alles spontaan langs me heen liet gaan behalve het audiovisuele. Zó mooi

Ik vond dat verhaal ook vrij mooi. Simpel, maar de manier hoe Shinkai zijn verhaaltjes brengt.. Zo mooi en melancholisch. En zoals je zei: de beelden zijn zó goed
