Laat ik er ook maar een top 25 van maken. Helaas vallen er dan nog een aantal buiten, maar het is een mooi getal.

De Jaren 40 - het zal u niet verbazen - liggen tussen de Jaren 30 en Jaren 50 in. Ook hier was ene Yasujiro Ozu actief. Én de Jaren 40 zijn het decennium van een Brit en een Hongaar, bekend als The Archers. Viermaal in de Top 12. Geweldenaars, dat zijn het!

Verder veel van mijn persoonlijke voorkeuren in deze lijst terug te vinden, dus ook hier weer enkele ontbrekende klassieken - die vind ik blijkbaar toch niet zo goed. Dus wel veel Bette Davis, paar goede noirs (en een paar dus niet), westerns en uiteraard Casablanca, boven Citizen Kane. En zowaar nog minder non-VS materiaal dan het voorgaande en volgende decennium. Behalve die paar Japanners dus. En zowaar tweemaal Jean Renoir....

Abbott and Costello, bij mij een blinde vlek.

Bij jou altijd ook Bette Davis

En een mij onbekende Stanwyck, tsjonge - ook weer een leuke oogst.

Abbott and Costello zijn bij mij meestal wel een constante. Niet alles wat ze hebben gemaakt is goed, maar ik blijf ze fantastisch vinden. Al krijg ik het gevoel dat ik één van de weinigen ben die ze vandaag de dag nog kan waarderen.

Hoewel ik en La Davis niet echt op een goede voet zijn gestart, behoort ze nu tot één van mijn favoriete actrices. Dus ja, ook zij is een constante in toplijstjes

Van Stanwyck heb ik enkel Clash By Night nog gezien, niet helemaal wild van. De clash tussen haar en Ava Gardner is in East Side, West Side echter om van te smullen. Vooral vanwege de persoonlijke issues van beide dames want Gardner was de minnares van de man van Stanwyck...

Het werd steeds minder met dit decennium, maar sinds vorig jaar na herkijken, weer een aantal, vooral muziekfilms bijgekomen. Voorlopig dit dan maar. Er hangen er nog wat onder. Dit is sinds enige tijd voor mij ook de trend geworden op deze site aangaande onbekende films, dan wel van lang geleden, oude muziekfilms (en recente Hollywood animaties). Verder begin er ik meestal niet meer aan. Geen tijd/zin en ik kijk liever gewoon dezelfde films.

5,7,9 hebben er al eens ingestaan. 1 t/m 6 staan in mijn favorietenlijstje (van iets meer dan 100 films).
