Ze waren er snel bij, in 1935.

Klopt die 'televisiemaatschappijen' uit de omschrijving? Die bestonden nog niet, lijkt me.

James Houghland invents a revolutionary new device which can transmit television signals instantaneously to anywhere in the world. When he refuses to give in to corporate pressure and sell the device to television companies, he turns up murdered in the middle of his very first broadcast. Police Chief Nelson is sent in to investigate.

Volgens IMDb is het ook Sci-Fi. Helaas kun je op MM slechts 2 genres selecteren, vandaar dat ik moest kiezen welke genres ik zou plaatsen.

In dat geval is het wel apart dat ze toen al een dergelijk verhaal hadden.

In 1936 verscheen 'Trapped by Television'. Gaat over een uitvinder die medium TV uitvindt.... Nog geen TV-mijen, maar wel criminelen, die achter de blauwdrukken aan zitten. Viel toen onder genre SF.

As he is broadcasting his message to the few people lucky enough to actually have a TV, he suddenly collapses. There are several suspects, as one or two of the guests seem to be doing something akin to spying for a rival television company or two. The inventor's assistant Arthur Perry, is another prime suspect. There's another guy who keeps snooping around outside and sneaking in the house, but for some reason the cops just keep throwing the guy out the door, without asking him any questions.
