Voor de duidelijkheid: Met Cinematografie bedoelen we de visuele look van de film. Hoe ziet het er uit? Dit is een samenspel van camerastandpunt, kadrering, belichting, camerabewegingen, lengte van de shots, de gebruikte filmstock, kleurgebruik in belichting, kleurgebruik in de nabewerking. Een heel verhaal.....

De vraag die je jezelf eigenlijk moet stellen is: Als ik het verhaal, de decors en de acteurs buiten beschouwing laat, vind ik dan dat de film er mooi uitziet?

2-1 ga toch voor de prachitge surrealistische zwart/wit look van 8 1/2 (Al vind ik MC de betere/leukere film.)

1-0 RtP is misschien wel mooier, bijna te mooi, maar de geweldige cameravoering en de verschillende visule stijlen in TCG geven de doorslag...

"Visueel is het kundig in elkaar gezet, maar ook hier weer ... saai. De camera wiegt je in slaap, net zoals het kleurenpalet."

Ik ga deze knock-out maar niet stemmen, want heb van deze ronde maar vier keer beide films die tegen elkaar moeten gezien. Ik hoop in ieder geval dat Nightmare Before Christmas, American Beauty, Big Fish, March of the Penguins, Fight Club of Spirited Away wint.

Road to Perdition kreeg Oscar voor beste cinematografie en The Constant Gardner was niet eens genomineerd voor Oscar cinematografie.
