De tiener Zef en zijn kleine broertje Tutu zijn twee blije olifantjes. Wie zou dat niet zijn met de grootste achtertuin om in te spelen, namelijk de weidse vlakten van Afrika? Met veel plezier jagen ze zebra's, struisvogels en wrattenzwijnen de stuipen op het lijf. Er is veel lol te beleven en Zef laat Tutu zien hoe hij het beste in de problemen kan geraken. Totdat hun moeder en de rest van de kudde op een donkere nacht van hen worden weggenomen...

Na zevenentwintig lange maanden te hebben gediend in Algerije, is een jonge fotograaf (Frédéric Simon) na zijn ontslag in het leger nu vastberaden om al zijn ellende en problemen te vergeten. Op het eerste gebied gaat alles volgens zijn wensen. Hij trouwt zijn Sylvie, en heeft een mooie huwlijksreis. Maar als later blijkt dat Sylvie zwanger van hem is en hij moeilijk een baan kan vinden, gaat alles weer bergafwaarts. Gelukkig vind hij uiteindelijk troost bij een oud ex vriendinnetje Christine. Vervolgens als hij alles weer op de rails heeft, gaat hij te werk als een modefotograaf. De vraag is voor hoelang zal hij nu wel gelukkig zijn?
