Hier is ie dan: de knock out met 512 filmpersonages. Ik heb de lijst samengesteld met behulp van wat lijsten met beste filmpersonages en met name het favoriete filmpersonage topic hierop Moviemeter. Zo'n beetje alle personages die daar genoemd zijn heb ik in de lijst gestopt, zodat er zo min mogelijk favorieten ontbreken. Natuurlijk is het onvermijdelijk dat sommige leuke personages er niet in zitten, maar ik hoop dat deze lijst toch echt de belangrijkste bevat.

Het woord personages heb ik heel ruim genomen overigens. Niet alleen mensen, maar ook dierlijke personages, tekenfilmfiguren, robots en een computer (Hal 9000) doen mee. Soms werd van een personage meerdere versies genoemd (zoals Vito Corleone, die door zowel Marlon Brando en Robert De Niro is gespeeld). Deze zijn dan tegenover elkaar gezet in de eerste ronde. Waarom? Omdat een finale tussen twee Vito Corleones niet bepaald interessant is.
