Heeft te maken met de huidige populariteit van films waarin veel gestaard wordt

Vind ik persoonlijk wel.

Dr. Strangelove vond ik de zwakste Kubrick die ik al gezien heb en Fargo is super!

Gelukkkig boeit die hele Asian Screen mij geen fuck.

"t is jammer dat het ongelooflijk romantische lange verhaal (Volgens de meeste het beste) je niet wist te pakken.....

Wat is daar zo gelukkig aan? Heb je het al geprobeerd?

En ik geef Kitano er ook helemaal de schuld daaraan. het is een mooi romantisch verhaal, maar de uitwerking is helaas slaapverwekkend.

Dat ligt dan toch meer aan jouw stemming tijdens het kijken dan aan de uitwerkig, want voor velen werkt het wel.

Beetje overdreven reactie van mij natuurlijk om even verder te gaan op die opmerkingen tegen Dolls. Ik heb pas 12 Aziatische films bestemd, dus ik heb er nog de ballen verstand van, zeg maar.

Verbijsterend dat het nietige Fargo (eerdere werk van de Coens is allemaal beter, fargo is vooral een herhalingsoefening) het Dr. Strangelove moeilijk maakt...

Niet zozeer aan mijn stemming tijdens het kijken, maar meer aan mijn smaak van films. Ik vond het gewoon iets té stil, té stijf en té eentonig. Daarbij kon ik nauwelijks meeleven met de platte personages.

Ik weet wel, smaken en kleuren en zo, maar dit vind ik echt bizar.

Dat je niet van je stoel rolt bij de fantastische dialogen, de absurde situaties, ... is voor mij onbegrijpelijk. Strangelove gaat toch echt veel dieper dan Fargo. Maar goed, zoals gezegd, smaken en kleuren, nietwaar

Wat maakt het uit hoe "diep" hij gaat, maakt dat 'm beter?

Inderdaad

Het feit dat hij ingaat op de hele koude-oorlog-situatie, en de logica die toen heerste "hoe meer kernbommen, hoe veiliger de wereld" geeft de film extra kracht t.o.v. een engagementsloos, maar leuk, verhaal, wat bvb. ook geldt voor The Great Dictator.

Maar afgezien daarvan is hij gewoon grappiger.

Ik vind Fargo wel heel wat meer dan dat.

Volgens mij heeft Dolls weinig kans. Een film waar je zelf moet voelen, in plaats dat de personages kalm, rustig en mooi vertellen wat je moet voelen.

Een zielepoot die 90 minuten lult vormt blijkbaar per definitie een dieper personage dan eentje die 90 minuten zwijgt.
