Grootste film epics ooit

Ik denk dat de definitie van epiek wat versoepeld is in de loop der jaren. De enige film die echt episch op mij overkomt is The Lord of the Rings.

Vind die echt minder episch dan bijvoorbeeld Lawrence of Arabia.

Heb ik helaas niet gezien (schaam?). Van de nummer 2 en 3 op lijst moet ik helaas zeggen dat ik deze niet episch genoeg vind.

Legends of the fall zit er vast ook tussen, of niet?

nee, en ik vind ook niet dat die film het verdient om tussen grote films te zitten als "lord of the rings" en "ben hur"

Ik vind eigenlijk MAlcom X (nr.10) er niet echt tussen passen.

En de Kurosawa films zoals Ran en Seven Samurai dat zijn dan ook epics toch :s

Lijkt me wel, The Hidden Fortress trouwens ook.

En zou "War of the worlds" daar ook bij horen?

Inderdaad, die hoort er ook bij. Een prachtige film trouwens.

Edit: door dit berichtje heb ik ontdekt dat ik nog niet gestemd had op deze film!

Ben-Hur, Spartacus, Lawrence of Arabia ( die onlangs is uitgeroepen tot grootste epische film aller tijden) Gandhi, The Last Emperor, etc.

De grootste is in ieder geval the Lord of the Rings.

Ook de beste.

Lawrence of Arabia.

Lord of The Rings valt in het niet, bij bijv. Birth of a Nation, Ben Hur en Ran als je de digitale manipulatie wegneemt.

Maar Ben Hur valt in het niet bij LotR als je de acteurs wegneemt .

Dan houd je een soap-epos over, als in het derde deel?

Alles valt bij Lotr in het niet als je kijkt naar de opzet. Alle culturen, talen, landen, kostuums. Dat allemaal komt uit het hoofd van EEn man. Probeer dat maar na te doen.

The Shining natuurlijk.

Als je het zo stelt gaat alle credit naar Tolkien en die maakte geen epische films.

Helicoptershots over bergen en landschappen vind ik niet echt episch (eerder gemakkelijk).

Voor mij is Ben-Hur het grootste epos ooit.

Spartacus, Ran, Ben-Hur... zeg maar alle films die door jackson zijn gekopieerd, en waar ie een digitaal filtertje overheen heeft gegooid

LotR lijkt qua aankleding helemaal niet op Ben-Hur en Spartacus; alleen al door de verschillende werelden is LotR anders. Natuurlijk zijn ze allemaal episch, maar LotR heeft een andere sfeer en setting dan die twee Romeinen-films.

Anyway whats wrong with the Shining , staat achterop de hoes zelfs ''de eerste Epische horrorfilm '' , heb verder weinig kennis van dit onderwerp

Ik vond The Shining eigenlijk helemaal geen epos. En waarom is Ben-hur zo vreemd mikoz? Als er een film als typisch voorbeeld voor een epos genoemd kan worden is het Ben-Hur.

Typ "epic film" in bij wikipedia en je krijgt al onmiddelijk een afbeelding uit Ben-Hur te zien .

The Shining is trouwens absoluut geen epos.
