Bobbie Jo, Billie Jo en Betty Jo Bradley zijn drie zussen die bij hun oom Joe wonen en eigenaar zijn van het familiehotel Shady Rest. Hun hele stad, Hooterville, draait rond de trein de CannonBall, maar daar zijn constant de nodige problemen mee. De meiden komen altijd met de meest idiote ideeën op de proppen, al hebben ze het hart wel op de juiste plaats zitten. Ondertussen moeten ze natuurlijk ook nog Shady Rest op een goede manier zien te runnen.
