Alvast een 'voorproefje' op de DVD release van 12 juli a.s.: Cab Calloway zingt al op Youtube (titelsong?).
Be aware, quote (met spoiler):
"'Blues in the Night' is a crazy movie. The film moves along like a speeding train that's lost its breaks. The film goes from Film-Noir to musical and back to Noir at a breakneck pace. The characters in the blues band (with great names) speak in that fast rat-tat-tat reporter voice made popular in the 1930s. The music in it is fantastic and the songs are usually showcased in montage style -- they're like the first music videos. Future director Don Siegel put together the montages. The dream sequences in particular are insanely entertaining. In the last 10 mins of the film, 1 of the band members loses his mind, another loses her new born baby. Lloyd Nolan gets plugged in the guts by a roscoe. To top it off Wally Ford driving Betty Field (playing possibly one of the first Film-Noir 'femme fatales'!) and himself into a explosive car crash. What happens next. There's a sappy happy ending showing the band all back together and happy playing the Blues on a slow moving freight train. How could they possibly ride into the horizon picking their instruments like nothing happened?? It's a crazy film that you can't get enough of. Be aware: the song "Blues in the Night" will been stuck in your head for days!"
